Based on site in Ontario, this role requires a proactive and hands on approach to managing environmental performance across a complex operation.
As the Environmental Superintendent, you will oversee critical environmental programs from water and waste management to biodiversity and air quality, ensuring regulatory compliance and driving continuous improvement. You will work cross functionally with site teams, regulators, and Indigenous communities to maintain high environmental standards and deliver meaningful impact.

Responsibilities
- Manage the site’s environmental programs including water management, tailings, air emissions, waste, and biodiversity.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental laws, permits, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Lead incident investigations and support root cause analysis for environmental events.
- Supervise a team of environmental professionals and provide mentorship and coaching.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies, Indigenous communities, and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate audits, inspections, and ongoing improvement initiatives.
- Maintain and update the site’s Environmental Management System (EMS).
- Participate in closure planning, reclamation strategies, and sustainability initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in the mining industry with exposure to environmental management.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian mining regulations and environmental permitting.
- Experience working with Indigenous communities and government regulators.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Previous experience in a supervisory or management capacity preferred.
- Proficient in environmental software and data analysis tools.
