Job Description

Intelligenciia has been exclusively retained to recruit a Principal Electrical Engineer on behalf of a respected Canadian owned engineering consultancy. As a trusted partner in executive search and technical recruitment across Canada’s natural resource sectors, we are proud to support this key hire.

This firm has delivered exceptional engineering solutions for over 40 years and maintains a strong presence in the energy, mining, and industrial sectors. With an emphasis on sustainability and technical excellence, their Vancouver office is seeking a principal level electrical engineer who brings deep design expertise, a commercial consulting mindset, and a collaborative approach to project delivery.

This is not a management role. Instead, it is a technical leadership position for someone who enjoys hands-on work, supports junior team members, and understands the consulting business model. If you are passionate about driving project success while mentoring the next generation of engineers, this could be your ideal next move.

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical engineering projects through concept, design, construction, commissioning and operations
  • Prepare, review and approve studies, reports, calculations, estimates and technical drawings
  • Support proposal development including scope, schedule, cost, quotations and client presentations
  • Manage multidisciplinary project packages and monitor deliverables
  • Conduct site visits, inspections and commissioning activities across Canada
  • Collaborate with internal teams and clients to maintain quality, scope and timelines
  • Act as a discipline lead and senior technical advisor with hands on design involvement
  • Mentor intermediate and junior engineers, technologists and drafters
  • Contribute to client engagement and uphold service excellence
  • Active participation in conferences, writing technical papers and presenting.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 15+ years of experience in industrial or infrastructure environments
  • Registered or eligible for registration as a P.Eng. with EGBC within 12 months
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Valid Class 5 BC driver’s license
  • Skilled in reviewing electrical deliverables such as single line diagrams, layouts, elevations, material lists, cable and termination schedules
  • Experienced in preparing accurate estimates, budgets and schedules
  • Familiar with IEEE 3000 Standards Collection, the Canadian Electrical Code and the National Electrical Code
