Job Description

Intelligenciia has been engaged on a retained basis to recruit a Senior Process Engineer for a Canadian engineering group whose thermal systems are gaining strong traction in the hydrometallurgical industry. This role provides immediate ownership of process deliverables and a direct line of influence on project outcomes.

You will lead process engineering for custom systems used in challenging mining applications, build process deliverables from the ground up and work closely with senior technical experts. The company is growing quickly and is ready to hand significant responsibility to the right engineer.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the process engineering scope for industrial thermal systems in mining and related sectors
  • Prepare process flow diagrams, heat and mass balances, process and instrumentation diagrams and other process engineering deliverables
  • Size and/or specify instruments, valves, lines and related equipment
  • Contribute process inputs for proposals and conceptual design packages
  • Perform detailed reviews of engineering work completed by others to confirm accuracy and suitability
  • Collaborate with mechanical design, project management and senior technical staff to deliver engineered systems
  • Engage with clients to clarify process requirements when needed
  • Mentor junior engineers or engineers in training as the team expands
  • Support commissioning preparation and troubleshooting discussions as required
  • Ensure all work aligns with internal quality practices and relevant codes

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Extractive Metallurgy, Mineral Processing
  • Minimum 8 years of process engineering experience in industrial systems, mining or engineered equipment
  • Strong understanding of hydrometallurgy/ process concepts used across mining operations
  • Demonstrated ability to produce PFDs, heat and mass balances, and P&IDs
  • Experience specifying or reviewing instruments, valves, lines and related equipment
  • Registered or immediately eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with EGBC
  • Ability to work independently with sound technical judgment and confidence in making process decisions
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across small multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to manage multiple ongoing responsibilities in a growing and fast paced environment
