Job Description

Our client, a cutting-edge leader in mining technology, is seeking an experienced Senior Business Development Manager that will report to the Mining Business Unit Lead and play a key role in driving the commercialization and growth of their fibre optic sensing solutions within the mining sector.

This is a high-impact, newly created position focused on accelerating the adoption of DFOS/DAS technology across mining, geotechnical, underground, and tailings applications, as they expand into mining as a strategic growth market in the Americas.

The successful candidate will act as a trusted advisor to mine operators, EPCMs, and consultants, translating operational challenges into commercially viable monitoring solutions. Combining market development, consultative sales, and solution design, they will also provide critical customer insights to shape product evolution.

Working closely with product, engineering, and delivery teams, this individual will own the full sales cycle while helping define the long-term commercial strategy for mining applications.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for owning revenue generation and pipeline development across the mining sector, building and executing a territory strategy that drives consistent growth as a credible monitoring partner in the industry.
  • Develop and sell long-term Monitoring as a Service (MaaS) program, structuring multi-year commercial agreements and recurring revenue models in collaboration with internal teams.
  • Position company as an end-to-end monitoring solutions provider across tailings, geotechnical, underground, and infrastructure applications, developing compelling use cases and value propositions tailored to customer needs.
  • Engage directly with senior stakeholders including C-suite executives, mine general managers, engineers of record, and operations leaders to identify risk drivers, monitoring priorities, and decision criteria.
  • Drive consultative sales processes, including discovery, solution design, proposal development, negotiation, and contract execution.
  • Manage the full sales cycle end-to-end, while also maintaining ongoing client relationships post-deployment to ensure satisfaction, capture feedback, and identify opportunities for expansion and repeat business.
  • Represent the organization at industry events, conferences, and technical forums, contributing to thought leadership and building market credibility.
  • Serve as the voice of the customer, gathering structured site feedback and translating it into actionable insights to inform product, engineering, and software development, driving continuous improvement across organizational solutions.
  • Maintain strong commercial discipline, including CRM management, pipeline reporting, competitive intelligence, and account planning.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in mining or industrial technology sales, geotechnical monitoring, instrumentation, asset integrity, or closely related sectors, combining both technical depth and commercial acumen.
  • Direct experience with fibre optic sensing technologies (DFOS-including DAS, DTS, and DSS) or closely related sensing and monitoring platforms is considered a strong asset.
  • Proven success in leading and closing complex, consultative B2B sales cycles involving diverse stakeholder groups (operations, engineering, risk, procurement), ideally within enterprise organizations or across multi-site implementations.
  • Strong, established network across North America and globally within mining operators, EPCMs, and geotechnical or tailings consulting communities.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and influence technical audiences (geotechnical, reliability, instrumentation, OT/IT), translating complex challenges into clear, value-driven solution requirements.
  • Expertise in developing compelling business cases, effectively articulating ROI, operational value, and risk mitigation, and negotiating commercial agreements through successful execution.
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally with product, engineering, and delivery teams to shape product direction and enhance offerings based on market and customer insights.
  • Self-motivated professional, with a strong executive presence, comfortable navigating ambiguity and driving outcomes in high-growth, evolving environments.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively across Canada and the Americas, with flexibility for occasional international travel.
